Canon MP620 Wireless All-in-One Photo Printer – Review
Posted on December 31, 2009
One thing is for certain, and that is that Canon’s MP620 printer is nothing like the old traditional 13×9 and 4×6 printers. The wireless features alone make it clear that Canon has paid a lot of attention to consumer demands in that the wireless features are both modern and extremely versatile. It seems Canon has produced just the type of printer unit business have been waiting for.
MP620 has greater wings to stretch when it comes to functionality. It is given a silver and gloss black body with a neat footprint with easily adjustable paper slots and supports that can handle up to 150 sheets. Its paper cassette is designed to easily slide in at the front of the printer so the printed output can be received by a fixed output tray. The adjustable feed and receiving trays of the printer eliminates the hassles brought by printing on mixed media.
Even though the Canon Pixma MP620 inkjet printer is perfectly suitable for home use, it has however been designed with busy offices in mind. Of course, when one considers all the versatile features it has, it’s clear to see that the printer has been made to be a busy machine. Over and above being a printer, the Canon Pixma MP620 also serves as a copier and as scanner with a scanning area of 8.5″ x 12″, together with a two and a half inch LCD control panel. As one would expect from Canon, it’s possible to print on a variety of papers such as regular printing paper and photo paper. Canon has also gone as far as including a built-in card reader together with wireless network capability. Thanks to the card reader, the MP620 is fully compatible with XD Picture Cards, Memory Stick, SD memory cards, MultiMedia Cards and Compact Flash Cards.
Weighing in at more or less eighteen pounds, The Canon MP620 Wireless All-in-One Photo Printer Plus measures 14.5″x17.7″x6.9″. Apart from being incredibly easy to store away, the printer’s sleek, compact design also ensures it’s a real space saver. Unlike its competitors, the MP620 is by no means bulky and can easily be fitted on one of free corners of your desk. Of course, if you intend to connect the printer to a network or personal computer, there’s USB port located on the back right hand side.
MP620 is generally easy and quick to set up. After inserting the print head and the ink cartridges, all you need to do is plug in the machine via USB connection or Wired LAN or Wireless LAN. When the printer is meant to serve a network of computer, network routers such as the Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi connection may be needed. While it takes more time to prepare for network use, setup tasks are easier when you intend to use the printer with only one computer.
Costing in the region of $150, this is a modern multi-functional printer with decent copy and scan quality capable of printing up to 26 pages per minute black, or an average of 17 pages in color. Because of its memory card slot, memory stick and UB slots, the MP620 information sharing really couldn’t be any easier.
All in all, the Canon MP620 is exceptionally well priced considering all its convenient features and as such, it’s the perfect printer for any busy office.
